Visit James Bond Island in picturesque Phang Nga Bay
The brightest jewel in the crown of Phang Nga Bay islands is the island made famous by James Bond – or one of his films, at least. After visiting it you will go canoeing through the caves and grottoes of the nearby islands, which cannot be reached otherwise. There is a total of about two hundred small islands scattered in the bay, like tiny grains of gold in the sand, and this makes Phang Nga Bay perhaps one of the most fascinating places to visit. Discover the splendour of these islands, washed by warm waters, beautifully crafted with every tide and nursed by Mother Nature for centuries. This is your chance to explore and admire each priceless gem in the necklace of Phang Nga Bay – so take it!
You will start your journey by speed boat, passing curious labyrinths of small islands and enjoying beautiful scenery. Very soon you will discover that each islet has a little mystery in its heart. Some have picturesque lagoons, which can be accessed only through a chain of long caves, others have hidden treasures – amazing sites that beg to be photographed. You will paddle to the beautiful Mangrove and Diamond Lagoons to discover the brave new world of tropical wilderness. Get ready for breathtaking adventures that rival those of a Jules Verne novel.
Board a canoe and stand in the shoes of colonists, who dared the tropical wilderness of these islands hundreds of years ago. You do not have to worry about safety, as your canoe will be guided by a local who knows the area as the palm of his hand. Enjoy exploring rocky cliffs, drowning in bright tropical plants, inhabited by sly monkeys and incredible sea life. And make sure you take a picture or two of the magnificent eagle rays, a rare and mesmerising sight.
When you arrive at Panak Island you will see the famous rocky islet featured in "The Man with the Golden Gun". The locals named it Koh Tapu – or 'Nail' – and you will see why. For centuries the sea has been patiently carving the rock to offer you one of the best sights in the southern part of Thailand.
