Krabi Province – Paradise Found

Krabi Province is an idyllic group of numerous islands near Phuket, some of which are uninhabited, but all of which are famous for their natural beauty, splendid beaches, crystal clear waters, fascinating flora and fauna – everything that makes Krabi Province so special.

The islands of Krabi Province in Thailand are among tourists' favourites in any season. Vacationers from all over the world break gush when describing the beauty of local scenery: stunning landscapes, crystal white beaches, flourishing tropical flora, limestone cliffs, waterfalls and caves. Krabi is home to one of the oldest limestone rocks on earth – some of them date back more than 75 million years!

Discover your favourite among more than 200 islands, all equally delightful in their natural splendour. Enjoy the beauties of Than Bok Khorani National Park, an incredible wildlife area of endless rainforest and rich flora and fauna that covers 104 square kilometers. The park spans several islands and boasts crystal rivers, lakes, swamps, cliffs, caves, bamboo groves and mangrove jungle. When touring Krabi you can see tropical birds, gibbons, wild boars, king cobras, lemurs and pythons, then dive to meet eels and other amazing fish.

Krabi Province boasts a cave with prehistoric paintings – the Skull Cave or the Big Skull Devil Cave, Tham Phi Hua To. About 60 years ago a human skull was discovered in the cave, hence its present-day name. The cave has numerous paintings, dating back more than 3000 years. Scientists believe the paintings were made by fishermen tribes who lived here in prehistoric times. You can visit the Skull Cave by boat only, as it is located inside a huge karst mountain surrounded by bay waters.

Huay Toh waterfall is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Krabi Province. It is a powerful waterfall composed of eleven cascades, its water rushing down from the 1200 metre high mountaintop. During rainy season (from June to September) the waterfall is especially beautiful, so the tour will give you plenty of time to enjoy the views and go for a swim. Climbing the mountain by the waterfall is a popular activity, however it is only possible during dry season – from January to March.

Your next activity will be elephant trekking through the jungle. Next you go to Krabi, a little Thai town with about 18,000 residents. The locals are moving from traditional activities like fishing, growing rubber and making coconut oil to the fast developing tourist industry. Many locals are opening new hotels, cafés and other tourist facilities.

Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is one of the most sacred and revered temples in Krabi. A square in front of the White Temple is a popular holiday venue for Krabi residents. The temple itself, though small in size, is a surpisingly picturesque place, with walls painted in most joyful colours. The temple monks may give you blessings at your request.

The White Temple in Krabi will be the final destination of your one-day 'Charms of Krabi' tour, and after your visit to Krabi the cruise boat will take you back to Phuket.
