Say 'Here Kitty-kitty-kitty…'
… and enter the tiger's cage. If you love cats, Tiger Kingdom in Phuket is a perfect place to visit. Since its opening in June 2013, touring Tiger Kingdom has become a popular excursion for tourists from all regions of Phuket.
Tiger Kingdom is a group of 20 cubs and adult tigers that moved to Phuket from Chiang Mai – the largest city in northern Thailand. Back in Chiang Mai, Tiger Kingdom was founded in 2008 and enjoyed great popularity. This tiger park offers you a unique chance to see tigers in their natural habitat, pat them, hug some big ones and feed smaller ones.
Tiger Kingdom is located in Kathu district. The park is a scrupulously designed area that imitates natural tiger environment down to the smallest details. Tigers feel at home here – and so should you. Let your kids play with tiger cubs, while you walk into an adult tiger's cage for an adrenaline overdose. Take amazing snaps and shoot videos of your stay (but please, do not ignore the 'no flash' signs). Competent animal handlers will kindly ask big kitties to say 'cheese'.
When you arrive at Tiger Kingdom, you will see that the tigers here are not kept in captivity, but stroll around the park, accompanied by the staff members. If you dare to venture into a tiger's cave, you should not stay there longer than ten minutes so you don’t disturb a sleeping cat. As tigers are typical felines, they prefer to sleep during the day so they can prowl through the night. If you do not fancy seeing kitties during their laziest hours, you should visit the park early in the morning or around closing time. The park is open from 9 am until 6 pm.
Some oversized tabbies are waiting to be patted…
Here, in Tiger Kingdom in Phuket, tigers are fed twice a day: cubs drink milk and adults eat chicken. Every tiger is in perfect health and high spirits. Touch the tiger, and you will feel its soft skin and see the shimmering shine of its fur. Do not hesitate to pat or hug the tiger you like. Each animal has been brought up among humans since its birth, so it is hardly surprising that local tigers treat humans as friends. During the daytime, tigers are extremely lazy, but sometimes you may see them play. The tiger handlers are always around to keep an eye or two on the big cats, so there is no need to worry about your safety. When it comes to posing for pictures with big and small cats, prices may vary: cubs usually charge more for snaps, and adults satisfy themselves with lower prices. If you hunger for something more than just hugs, kisses and taking photos in the park, you can have lunch and drinks at the local bar.
Finally, Tiger Kingdom offers a breathtaking opportunity to arrange a birthday or a wedding party in the park and include tigers on the guest list.
No matter when or why you visit Tiger Kingdom, it is sure to be the experience of a lifetime.
